🍗 Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 onion, finely diced

  • 1 bell pepper (any color), finely diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional for extra depth)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Soft burger buns, for serving

  • Optional: sliced pickles, cheese, or slaw for topping


👨‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Sauté veggies:
    Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper and cook until soft, about 3–4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook 1 minute more.

  2. Cook the chicken:
    Add ground chicken to the pan and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until no longer pink and lightly browned.

  3. Add the flavor:
    Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, and smoked paprika (if using). Mix well. Let simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Toast your buns (optional but 🔥):
    Lightly butter and toast your burger buns in a separate pan until golden.

  5. Assemble & Serve:
    Spoon the hot Cajun chicken mixture onto the bottom bun. Top with cheese, pickles, or slaw if you’d like. Finish with the top bun and dig in!


🌶️ Pro Tip:

Want it spicier? Add a splash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne. You can also use Cajun mayo as a spread for extra kick.
