Philly Steak Cheese Fries

Ingredients:
– 20 oz bag McCain Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries or your preferred fries
– 1 lb steak, thinly sliced
– 1 green bell pepper, sliced
– 1 onion, sliced
– 1 tbsp olive oil
– 8-10 slices White American cheese
– 1 tsp garlic salt
– 1 tsp ground black pepper
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven:
Begin by setting your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for perfectly crispy fries.
2. Cook the steak:
Place an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the thinly sliced steak. Season it with garlic salt and black pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, making sure the steak is browned on all sides, then remove it from the skillet and set aside.
3. Sauté the vegetables:
Using the same skillet, keep 1 tablespoon of juices and discard any excess. Add in the sliced green bell pepper and onion. Sauté for 4-5 minutes over medium heat until the veggies become tender yet still slightly crisp. Once done, remove and set aside.
4. Layer the fries and toppings:
Take a baking dish or use the same skillet to create the ultimate cheese fries. Start with a single layer of waffle fries. Place 4 slices of White American cheese over the fries as a cheesy base. Next, add a layer of the cooked steak, followed by the sautéed vegetables. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, finishing off with the remaining cheese on top.
5. Bake:
Carefully transfer the skillet or baking dish into the preheated oven. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and bubbly.
6. Serve:
Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes before digging in. Perfect for sharing with friends or enjoying all on your own!
