Ingredients:
-
1–2 sheets of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
-
Filling ideas (as shown):
-
Cream cheese or ricotta
-
Chopped tomatoes
-
Cooked bacon or ham
-
Shredded mozzarella or cheddar
-
Green onions, bell peppers, or spinach
-
-
1 egg (for egg wash)
-
Optional toppings: sea salt, herbs, grated Parmesan
Instructions:
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Prepare the puff pastry:
-
Roll out the pastry slightly on a floured surface.
-
Cut the pastry into rectangles or wide strips (like in the photo).
-
-
Add the filling:
-
Spread your filling along the center of each strip—don’t overfill!
-
Fold over the edges or give it a slight twist to seal and create that beautiful spiral effect.
-
-
Twist and shape:
-
Gently twist each strip (as shown in the first image) and place on the baking sheet.
-
-
Egg wash:
-
Beat 1 egg with a splash of water and brush it over the pastries for that glossy finish.
-
-
Bake:
-
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
-
-
Finish:
-
Optionally, sprinkle with sea salt, parsley, or Parmesan right after baking.
