🛒 Ingredients:
For the Hoagie:
-
1 ½ lb ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
-
1 large onion, thinly sliced
-
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
-
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tsp seasoned salt
-
1 tsp paprika
-
1 tsp black pepper
-
½ tsp garlic powder
-
½ tsp onion powder
-
Optional: ½ tsp Creole or Cajun seasoning for extra soul 🔥
Extras:
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1–2 tbsp butter or oil for sautéing
-
4 hoagie rolls (toasted or soft)
-
8 slices of provolone cheese, or use American or mozzarella if you want it super melty
Optional Soul Food Touch:
-
Add a little bit of hot sauce, or spread on some mayo mixed with mustard & Creole seasoning for that Southern tang
🔥 Instructions:
1. Prep & Season the Steak
-
Freeze steak for 30 mins to make slicing easier.
-
Slice thin, then season with all dry seasonings + Worcestershire sauce. Toss to coat.
2. Cook the Veggies
-
Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Add onions and peppers. Sauté until softened and slightly charred (about 6–8 mins).
-
Add garlic last minute so it doesn’t burn. Remove and set aside.
3. Sear the Steak
-
In the same pan, cook steak in batches (don’t overcrowd). Sear for 2–3 mins until browned and just cooked through.
-
Add veggies back in, mix everything together.
4. Melt the Cheese
-
Lay provolone slices over the steak and veggie mix while it’s still in the skillet.
-
Cover with a lid or foil for a minute or two to let that cheese get all gooey and melt into everything.
5. Build Your Hoagie
-
Toast the hoagie rolls if you want that crisp bite.
-
Load them up with the cheesy steak and peppers mix.
-
Optional: drizzle with hot sauce or spread on that soul food mayo mix.
🍟 Serve With:
-
Cajun fries or sweet potato fries
-
Dill pickles or pepperoncini
-
Cold lemonade or a chilled sweet tea 😮💨
