Savory Puff Pastry Twists (Stuffed & Twisted Bakes)

Ingredients:

  • 1–2 sheets of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

  • Filling ideas (as shown):

    • Cream cheese or ricotta

    • Chopped tomatoes

    • Cooked bacon or ham

    • Shredded mozzarella or cheddar

    • Green onions, bell peppers, or spinach

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • Optional toppings: sea salt, herbs, grated Parmesan


Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the puff pastry:

    • Roll out the pastry slightly on a floured surface.

    • Cut the pastry into rectangles or wide strips (like in the photo).

  3. Add the filling:

    • Spread your filling along the center of each strip—don’t overfill!

    • Fold over the edges or give it a slight twist to seal and create that beautiful spiral effect.

  4. Twist and shape:

    • Gently twist each strip (as shown in the first image) and place on the baking sheet.

  5. Egg wash:

    • Beat 1 egg with a splash of water and brush it over the pastries for that glossy finish.

  6. Bake:

    • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

  7. Finish:

    • Optionally, sprinkle with sea salt, parsley, or Parmesan right after baking.
